Leighton loved the country life. He spent his younger years working on ranches south of Miles City on Beaver Creek. Most recently, he had worked as a millwright, a job he took great pride in.
He enjoyed rodeo and was an accomplished roper. To Leighton there was nothing better than a good horse and a faithful dog.
Leighton enjoyed yearly elk hunting trips with his dad and brothers. The rest of us enjoyed the stories after those trips.
He also enjoyed working the daily crossword puzzles with his mom. Many hours were spent together at the kitchen table.
