David Franklin Bastian, 71, of Belfry, passed away November 11, 2018 at Beartooth Billings Clinic in Red Lodge. David was born February 20, 1947 to Elwyn Lee and Evelyn Ethel (Bender) Bastian in Mobridge, South Dakota. He was one of 8 children. David graduated from Custer County High School in Miles City.
David was married twice, to Wanda Lee Haggerty and later to Denise Short. For many years he worked as a Grocery Manager. David loved fishing, golfing, and bowling. He was a past Exalted Ruler of the Red Lodge BPOE. David was charming, funny, and loved by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Elwyn and Evelyn Bastian; brother Elwyn Lee Bastian, Jr.; sister-in-law Marie Bastian; sister Grace Jensen; Brother-in-law David Jensen; brother Charles Bastian; sister Elvina Berkholtz; sister-in-law Betty Bastian; niece Kelley Jensen; and brother-in-law Alan Chapman.
David is survived by his significant other Laura Powell; children: Lewayne D. (April) Bastian of Absarokee, MT, Radene (Darin)Ruzicka of Brainerd, MN, Karmen (Markus) Bastian of Siegen, Germany, Kelsey Bastian of Albuquerque, NM, and Alec (Nathan) Short of Denver, CO; his siblings: Milton (Kathy) Bastian of Red Lodge, MT, Norma Chapman of The Woodlands, TX, and James (Cathy) Bastian of Miles City, MT; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
