LeAnne Ruth (Norville) Beene was born on May 21, 1937, to Frances (Koch) and LeRoy Norville. She passed away on Dec. 27, 2015. LeAnne was born in Glasgow and spent time as a baby in Fort Peck where her father helped build the Fort Peck Dam. She then lived on the family farm west of Billings until the family moved to town and resided on Miles Avenue. LeAnne attended Garfield School, Washington School, Lincoln Junior High School, and graduated with the Class of 1955 from Billings Senior High School. She worked at the old Fox Theatre in downtown Billings.

Soon after graduating high school, she met Charlie Beene, a Billings Mustangs pitcher, and on Sep. 4, 1955, they were married in the First Methodist Church chapel. They lived in Waco, Texas, Billings, Missoula, Yakima, Wash., and Visalia, Calif., (during the baseball off seasons) before moving to San Francisco in 1960 when Charlie joined the police department. In 1962, they moved to San Mateo where they spent the next 25 years.

LeAnne and Charlie raised three children: Casey, Marty, and Marianne. LeAnne was involved in every aspect of her children’s activities, including PTA, band fundraisers and concerts, and Boy and Girl Scouts. In 1975, LeAnne earned her Associates Degree in Nursing. She was employed as a medical-surgical nurse at Kaiser Hospital in Redwood City, Calif., until retiring to Billings with Charlie in 1987.

LeAnne traveled extensively with Charlie in their RV to sightsee and golf. She also traveled to England and Ireland. She loved to read and cook, decorate the family home, and created a family tree with over 5,000 ancestors for both sides of the family.

LeAnne leaves behind her husband of 60 years, Charlie; three children, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren including: Marianne of Edgar; Marty, wife Pamela, and Cameron of Alameda, Calif.; and Casey, wife Cheryl, and Connor of Steilacoom, Wash.; Katie and Maile Johnson, of Steilacoom, Wash.; Ryan, April and Keegan of Anchorage, Alaska; Dylan, Brittanee, Greyson and Olivia of Steilacoom, Wash.; and Megan of Fircrest, Wash.; her sister Barbara and husband Gary Forberg and brother TJ and wife Virginia Norville, all of Billings; her much loved kitties ZuZu and Bob Cat and loyal dog Shadow. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frances (Koch) and LeRoy Norville.

Thank you to the caregivers of Aspen Meadows and RiverStone Hospice. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held in the spring. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens at that time. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to B.A.R.K. (Billings Animal Rescue Kare) or Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter.

LeAnne had an extra sharp sense of humor that made everyone around her laugh. She was a beloved daughter, “Sissy,” wife, mother and Nannie. Life certainly goes on, but it will never quite be the same without her in it.
