In a log cabin in the middle of nowhere, near Hammond, MT., Willis was born on June 12, 1929. His twin brother, Willard was born three hours later. They were two of four children born to Walter and Henrietta Belcher.
Willis took Auto Shop at Custer County High School in Miles City, Montana and it started a lifelong career as a mechanic. Willis owned his own shop servicing diesel trucks and eventually went to work for Convoy Company in Laurel until his retirement. He formed many life long friendships with co-workers at Convoy.
Willis married Phyllis on June 21, 1968 and they were married for 51 years. They enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and waterskiing, but they favorite pastime was dancing to old time country music, especially Wayne and Fern, Keeping it Country, and Jim and Sue. They made many friends through dancing as well.
Willis is survived by his wife Phyllis and three children, Marlene McCave (Dennis), Bobbi Buckingham (Mark) and Darin Belcher (Tina). He is also survived by his nine grandchildren, Matt McCave (Amanda), Keely McCave (Juan), Raeann Buckingham (Sam), Amanda Burgess (Morgan), Curtis Buckingham, Joshua Buckingham, Ryann McLennan (Johnny), Morgan Belcher, Evan Belcher and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Audrey, brothers Doug and Willard and his son Steve.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Billings Elk Lodge, where he was a life time member.
