Stephen N. Benson was born in Wallace, ID on November 20, 1952 to William R. Benson and Irene M. (Gardiner) Benson. Stephen was the middle child of three boys.
Stephen unexpectedly passed away on July 10, 2019 in Billings, MT.
He met the love of his life, Karen, around Christmas in 1981. They married on June 4, 1982. From this marriage, four children were born: Jennifer, Chris (Brittney), Jonathan (Jessica), and Kathy (Ryan).
Karen and Steve had 37 years together.
Steve had a great love for the outdoors with hunting, fishing, and camping, which he passed down to his children. He had a love for St. Bernard’s, having four throughout his life.
Dad served in the Army for six years (1970-1976), and then served in the Army Reserves in which he drove tanks. After his military career, Steve worked as a welder, taking great pride in his work. He then he worked as a cook before his retirement. He had a great love for his family and grandchildren – always having a kid or grandkid around him. He always had a smile on his face when his children/grandchildren walked through the door.
Steve had seven grandchildren: Dominick, Alexis, J.R, Jax, Lily, Terry, and Elizabeth.
Stephen was preceded in death by his parents: William and Irene; father-in-law Ralph Kammerzell; mother-in-law Dorothy Kammerzell; and his brother-in-law Larry Kammerzell.
He is survived by his wife Karen; children: Jennifer, Chris, Jonathan, and Kathy; grandchildren; brothers: Mike (Maxine) and Ron (Susan); as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
Dad didn’t want a service, so we are respecting his wishes. Family is asking that flowers and cards be sent to 2234 Eagle Rock Dr. Billings MT 59101.
