Thelma Marie Berg, 89, passed away April 13, 2018 at Wheatland Memorial Healthcare, surrounded by her family.
Marie was born in Mobridge, South Dakota on September 2, 1928 to George and Myrtle (Carlson) Hanson. She moved with her family to Harlowton in 1930.
She attended school in Harlowton. Marie married Marvin Berg on December 11, 1948. They lived on the Bonanza Ranch in Lennep until moving to the ranch west of Harlowton in 1969. To this union three children were born; Steven, Myrna and Greg.
During her high school years Marie worked for the railroad with many of her friends. After her marriage, she cooked for the hired men on the ranch and helped with many of the ranching duties. After moving to Harlo, she worked for many years at the Graves Hotel.
Marie was known for her wonderful sense of humor and her love for doing April Fool’s jokes on everyone. She also was known for her hospitality to anyone who was at her house at meal time… she always had an extra plate at the table. She was a wonderful cook and loved to bake Norwegian goodies.
Marie was proud of the fact that she was the last charter member of American Lutheran Church. Her church and love for her Lord were her high priority, but her family (kids, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren) ranked high up there as well. Her life revolved around her family and attending their activities. She also loved reminiscing with her family and friends at family gatherings and later while she was at the Nursing Home.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents; husband Marvin; son-in-law John Mysse; Brothers: Lloyd, Dean and Don Hanson; and sister Laura Haase.
Survivors include her children: Steven (Gail), Myrna Mysse and Greg (Cindy); grandchildren: Heidi (Mike) Dover, Heather (Ezequiel) Mysse Luna, JC Mysse, Gina Berg, Jacob (Tara) Berg and Alanna Berg; great grandchildren: Rebecca Occhipinti, Lars, Johnny, Bergen, Mari, Al and Preston Mysse, Hans Dover and Henry Berg; great-great granddaughters Braelyn and Harlow Occhipinti; and brothers Robert and John Hanson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday April 21, 2018 at 2pm, at the American Lutheran Church in Harlowton. Pastor Martin Mock will be officiating.
Memorials may be sent to American Lutheran Church or Wheatland Memorial Nursing Home in Harlowton.
