MARVIN JAY BOUWKAMP
Today I lost the Love of My Life. Our song was and still is “Keeper of the Stars”. He was not a quiet man, in fact he was very opinionated. He was also a perfectionist, and took pride especially when building his pole barns, including the two pole barn homes he built for us.
He was born June 21, 1934 in Coopersville, Michigan to Ethel Brower and Lewis Bouwkamp. He was also a Veteran of the Korean War, where he served as a Marine. “Once a Marine, always a Marine!”
He married his First Love, Marcia Huddleston, in May 1961; and he and Marcia had 5 children: Marvin, Wyoming; Janice (Charles) Croton, Michigan; Mitchell (Luann) Hart, Michigan; Martin, Billings, MT; and Cathie (Troy) Laurel, MT. Marcia passed away.
On July 29, 1995, Marvin married Dever (Deb) Casey Aves.
Marvin was never a “dog person” until Marcia had given Marvin a dog, Tipper, before she passed. Tipper, along with Deb’s Golden Retrievers, was definitely able to change his mind, and Marvin could have won K-9 Dad of the Year.
In June, 2007, Marvin received a kidney transplant and was very diligent about keeping records of weight and blood sugars for his doctor visits.
Marvin never met a stranger and always had a story to tell of the many different jobs he held, or stories about his grandpa teachings.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel and Lewis, his first love Marcia; a brother Roger; his faithful dog, Tipper, and the numerous friends that have gone before him, including his spiritual friend, Rev. Bob Lucas.
