Anita (Sam) Faye Brumwell passed away November 10, 2019 at the age of 55 due to a recent illness.  At the time, she was in the Laurel Health and Rehabilitation Center.  She was surrounded by the love of family when she passed.

Anita was born in Great Falls, Montana on September 30, 1964 to Bob and Ruth Brumwell.  Anita was the youngest of 4 children and the only girl!  Her brothers Ron, Larry, and Phillip immediately decided that a girl’s name wasn’t going to work for them and nicknamed her Sam, and it stuck!  Sam grew up on the family farm outside of Power.  Sam and her family were extremely active in school activities. If she wasn’t cheering on her older brothers, she was participating herself.  Friends remember Sam as an active member of Power School, involved in basketball, FHA, Pep Club, Powerettes, Honor Roll, and choir.  Sam sang like an angel and kept everyone on key!  She graduated in 1982.  After high school, Sam went on to attend Northern Montana College in Havre.  Working in occupations that were a service to others, Sam held jobs as a CNA, bartender and server.

Sam was the mother to three beautiful children:  Robbie, Eli, and Paige.  They were the light of her life all the way through to the end.  Sam and her kids moved to Colstrip in 1997 where she met her best friend and partner to the end, Mike Lincoln.  Family and friends remember that she LOVED to laugh; it was infectious! She was very quick witted, and was always there for you if you needed her.  Whether you just needed a shoulder to cry on, advice, or a listening ear, Sam was there.  Sam made friends easily and was extremely loyal.  She was an amazing cook and honored her Norwegian heritage in her Christmas baking.  Sam had a brilliant mind and a great love for cribbage, the world has a little less sarcasm, wit, and fireworks now that she is gone.  Sam loved being a Grandma and was so very proud of all her grandchildren. She is already greatly missed by family and friends.

Sam is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ruth (Knutson) Brumwell, her grandson Kayson Mace Prine, and numerous aunts and uncles.  Sam is survived by her three children: Robbie (Jessie) Prine, Eli Prine, both of Ryegate, Paige Prine of Colstrip and seven grandchildren: EJ, Blake, Shawn, Lilly, Hayden, Layten, and Waylon. Also surviving are her brothers, Ron (Betty) Brumwell, Larry (Chris) Brumwell, and Phillip (Elaine) Brumwell, six nieces and nephews and seven Great nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her partner, Mike Lincoln.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Colstrip on November 30, 2019 at 3 pm at the Moose Lodge.  A funeral service and burial of ashes will be held in the Spring of 2020 in Dutton, Montana.
