Anita McInnis Burkhart, 89, passed with peace and grace on March 15, 2018 in Billings, MT, with her son at her side.  Anita was preceded in death by her loving husband Jack in 2001 and by her loving sister Lorna McInnis Clapin in 2016.  Anita was born in Rice Lake, WI and attended The University of Idaho where she met Jack.  Open to all neighboring children, her kitchen was never closed.  She will be always remembered as a loving mother whose greatest passion was helping others.

From her birth until her death, Anita nourished the people around her. She remained consistent in character, generosity and social graces.  She had a quick wit, loved a good laugh, was a consummate hostess and was dedicated in her contributions to her community.  As a child of the Great Depression, she was as thrifty as one could get, yet she could also laugh at herself, teaching us the importance of this in a life well lived.

A celebration of Anita’s life will be held in the summer.  Summer was always Mom’s favorite time; she relished the warmth of the sun, the smell of Lilacs, and the burst of color in her garden.  Anita’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Edgewood Vista and to Stillwater Hospice for their loving care, attentiveness, and for keeping mom’s nails polished right to the end.  Thanks to Dr. Severa for his excellent care as well.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to a charity of your choice or the Alzheimer’s Association.  Anita would like that.

She leaves us rich in memories.
