Mary Evelyn Cattaneo peacefully passed away after a brief illness at the Riverstone Hospice House on August 4, 2017. Mary was born on March 22, 1937 in Worden to James and Mary Dick where she spent her early years on a family farm and attended school. She was married to John Ray Cattaneo on July 26, 1972 in Billings, Montana where they resided for the remainder of her life.
Mary loved children and ran her own home day care for many years. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family. Mary also had a special compassion for all animals, taking in and caring for many strays throughout her lifetime. She had a unique sense of humor and could always make people laugh even during her final days. She enjoyed listening to classic country music and reading mystery novels. We will miss her unconditional love for all as well as her infectious sense of humor.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her son Eugene Bradley Jr., daughter Nicky Ulmer and three sisters and three brothers. She is survived by her husband John Ray Cattaneo, her 4 children, Mary (Monti) Bonawitz, Mike Bradley, Anna Baker (Jim Poch) all from the Billings area as well as Lisa (Cole) Carpenter of Lake Oswego, Oregon. Mary also has seven grandchildren, Emily and Jordan Bonawitz, Aaron and Matt Stricker, Evan Carpenter, Trevor Arnold and Rebecca Strausburg.
A special thank you to her very good friend John Derry, as well as the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Vincent’s hospital for the care and compassion they provided to Mary and her family and also to the staff and volunteers at the Riverstone Hospice House for the comfort they provided her in her final days.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
