Iva Cooksey, age 61, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, July 26, 2019. She was born March 23, 1958, in Miles City, Montana, to Frank and Mildred (Chesworth) Cooksey.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one infant sister. Iva is survived by seven siblings; Fran (Tom) Akovenko, Carol Hultberg, Lew (Corinne) Cooksey, Vala (Jim) Shuck, Rhea (Gary) Cooksey-Dixon, Hal (Gayle) Cooksey, Reva (Richard) Reese, also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Iva graduated from Custer County High School and attended classes at the University of Montana in Missoula. She lived in Boise, Idaho for a time and later moved to Cashton, Wisconsin. While there she worked as a psychiatric nursing assistant at the Veterans Home in Tomah. However, most of her adult life was spent in Miles City, Montana. A “care-giver with a golden heart” is the phrase that describes Iva best. She put the needs of others before her own. She cared for her mother and father prior to their deaths and her faithful path led her to provide care and support to many individuals.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, September 7th at 2 p.m., in the meeting room of the VFW, 119 No. 6th Street, Miles City.
