On February 17, 2016, Anna Mae (Gunnare) Dyce, “Gram”, passed into the loving arms of her lord and waiting late husband Graydon. She was preceded in death by her husband Graydon; daughter Barbara and infant son James. We will all miss our strong and loving matriarch.
Anna Mae was born the seventh of twelve children to Erik and Anna (Innala) Gunnare, December 19, 1925 in Delmont, Charles Mix County, South Dakota.
She married her husband Graydon “Grady” Dyce, June 8, 1947 in Delmont, S.D. They had three children: Barb, Patty and Mike. With the untimely death of daughter Barb; Grady and Anna Mae raised her children, Willie and Karri, as their own. Such was the reservoir of love inside Gram and Grady.
Anna Mae’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the passion in her life. She loved and is still loving surely; each and every one of us. In recent weeks, she had the opportunity to see and hold all of her beloved “babies”, notwithstanding our age(s)!
She led a full and active life. The extended Gunnare family is a social, loving and close bunch. Seeing those three Gunnare girls: Gram, Alice and Ruthie together was always a special treat. The ebullience could fill a room, a very large room.
She had an active relationship with God. She was a Deacon at First Presbyterian Church, 2420 13th Street West, Billings.
She is survived by: Daughter, Patty & (Joe) Zahn of Fort Collins, CO.; Son, Mike & (Marj) Dyce of Highlands Ranch, CO.; Grandchildren, Willie Nash & (Brandi) of Colstrip, Karri Nash & (Jason) of Casper, WY, Joe Zahn III & (Leeann) of Bennett, CO, Nick Dyce & (Kerry) of Amherst, NH, Julie & (Zach) Jamison, of Billings, Tricia &(Ryan) Long, of Highlands Ranch, CO, and Amy & (Collins) Ferris, of Windsor, CO. Great-grandchildren(13): In order of age: Ty Herman, Haley Dyce, Kolbe Heiple, Garret Nash, Addy Nash, Graydon Zahn, Logan Nash, Beau Jamison, Michael Long, Kylee Zahn, Elizabeth Jamison, William Long and Sage Ferris.
She is additionally survived by brother Johnny & (Lianne) of Armour, S.D. and in-laws, Eileen & (Dick) Jones of Spearfish, S.D., Loretta Martin of Missoula, Lois Dyce of Billings, and many beloved nieces and nephews and extended family. And of course those two effervescent Gunnare sisters, Ruthie (Sharp) of Kennewick, WA and Alice (Fuerniss) of Delmont, S.D.
For family and friends, memorial service, Wednesday February 24 at 10:00 A.M. with reception to follow at First Presbyterian Church, 2420 13th Street West, Billings. Private graveside service for family to follow at 2:00 P.M.
