Cyril John Ehresman, 98, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at St. John’s Lutheran Ministry (Moorberg Cottage).

He was born May 13, 1917 to Martin and Eleanor Ehresman, “somewhere in the wilds” of Canada. He moved to Minnesota with his family, and became a citizen of the US. Although only formally educated through the eighth grade, he became a self-educated man. He met his wife, Rose Lillian (Buccola) and they raised seven children.  He ran a service station in Billings, was a long-haul truck driver and they built their own home. He was a typical German father, which helped keep all those boys in line!

Cyril was active in the Moose Lodge and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Cyril and Rose were original members of the Holy Rosary Church. Cyril continued to be an active volunteer, even after retirement. He drove for AIDS Spirit, was involved in church and other activities.

He was preceded by his wife, Rose Lillian, one sister, four brothers, a son, Martin, son-in-law (Tim O’Toole) and great-grandson (Timothy O’Toole) as well as a close friend, Esther Veches.

Cyril is survived by his children Ron(Dee), Dennis(Lynn), Richard, Jerome(Linda), Monica O’Toole, Katherine Houston, as well as two sisters  (Louise Ashelson and Doreen Ehresman) and two brothers (Phil and Anthony(Pat) Ehresman). He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 am and a Vigil will be held at 7:00pm, both on Monday, December 21, 2015 at Cremation & Funeral Gallery. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
