Gary Gahagan, 65, passed away peacefully Friday, October 20th, surrounded by his family.

Gary was born on April 21, 1952 in Billings to William and Florence (Hofferber) Gahagan. Gary grew up in Billings and graduated from Senior High School in 1970. During high school he worked at Sandee’s with his cousin Mike and friend Pete.  After graduation Gary, Mike and Pete joined the Army together and Gary went on to serve in Germany.

After the Army Gary went to work at Deluxe Check Printers where he met his future wife, Susan Fritz. Gary and Sue were married in 1976. They moved to Federal Way, WA for two years and then returned to Billings to have their two sons, Matthew and Brian.

In the mid-80’s Gary discovered a passion for law enforcement. In 1989 he started Guardian Security and owned and operated it for 28 years before retiring in 2016.

The joys of his life were his two sons, Matthew and Brian and two grandsons, Grady and Reilly. He also enjoyed working on vehicles, developing his land near Roundup, helping his friends and neighbors however he could, and spoiling his grandsons who he constantly said, “were the two best boys in the world”.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Florence.  He is survived by Sue his wife of 41 years, son Matthew and his wife Becky, son Brian and his fiancée Lisa Cederholm, sister Carol Graves of Kansas and her husband Daryl, brother-in-law Charles Fritz of Washington and his wife Karen, grandsons Grady and Reilly (Matthew), and nephews Charlie and Jackson (Charles) and Greg and Cody (Carol).

Gary will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
