George “Sonny” Gerber
On October 22, 2015 we lost another great man. He was born Feb. 9, 1933 to Mike and Anna Gerber in Silesia.
Raised as a strong Edger farm boy he met the love of his life Delores Frickel at a dance in Bridger. Shortly after, he married her in 1956. Of that marriage came three boys, Mike, Gary and Grant.
Sonny worked at Midland Foods for 27 years, then Valley Welders Supply until he retired in 1997.
After retirement they traveled to Hawaii, New England States, Branson, Missouri and a cruise.
He was one of the 1st recipients to receive a Star Edwards heart valve at Deaconess Hospital in 1974.
He was an avid bowler which included nationals, city and state tournaments and a longtime member of the Elks.
As a football fan Sonny enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and the Montana Grizzles.
He is proceeded in death by his parents and beloved grandson Justin Gerber 10/4/15, and numerous members of his extended family.
Sonny is survived by his wife Delores of 59 years, his three sons Mike (Susy), Gary (Naomi), Grant (Ileta). Grandchildren Nick Coulter, Alicia (Tyler), Kyra (David), Sara, and Jessica. Sonny is also survived by great grandchildren Deklan and Brennan, his sisters Josie Vladic, Gladys Smith and many nieces and nephews.
Sonny, Dad, Grandpa, we will miss you forever.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Pilgrim Congregational Church.
