Antoinette “Netty” Jean Grosulak, 70, bravely passed away May 28, 2020 after years of fiercely defying the odds of chronic illness.
Netty was born October 27, 1949 to Anton and Eugenia “Jean” Kraft in Dickinson, ND. After her father’s untimely passing, her mother remarried a wonderful man, Frank Arms, who raised Netty and her sisters Ardella and Marlys as his own.
Netty grew up in Billings, attending West High and Eastern Montana College. In 1973, she married Ronald Grosulak and created the loves of her life, Brad and Lynn. She built a career in culinary arts that culminated in becoming the Executive Chef at the Billings Plaza Holiday Inn. She was proud of her skills in garnishing and food presentation displayed at her beloved Easter brunch. In her 30 year tenure, Netty created a second family amongst co-workers and the team she led. She was instrumental in establishing a “Help Your Own” fund accessed by employees in need and was named Employee of the Year.
Throughout her life, Netty enjoyed baking, candy making, floral arranging, scrapbooking and crafting in general. She had a deep love and compassion for animals which she shared with her daughter. Traveling with family was a highlight of her life. Taking cruises, visiting tropical locations, enjoying the Lion King on Broadway in NY city and belly laughing on Disney’s Splash Mountain were some of her favorite memories.
Netty battled with chronic illness nearly all of her adult life. Her son-in-law playfully teased that she was “bullet proof, a Sherman tank” bowling over Wagener’s disease, diabetes, and THREE different cancer diagnosis. She “equally embodied grit and grace” navigating health struggles, compelled to raise her children. Her dialysis journey (well over a decade) was met with determination and feistiness that earned her the nickname “Old Bat.” Netty was warm, loving, tough and funny. She absolutely made a mark on this world. Rest easy Mama…you’ve done one hell of a job. You will be missed beyond measure.
Netty was preceded in death by her father, Anton, her mother, Eugenia, her step-father, Frank (Arms), her sister Ardella (James) Dick and her “once in a lifetime” love, Ronald Grosulak.
She is survived by her two children, Brad Grosulak and Lynn (Eric) Harkins, her sister, Marlys (Frank) Raville, her doggie companion Buddy as well as several well loved nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place and her children will honor her wish, releasing her into the ocean off the Hawaiian coast. Due to Covid-19, traditional services are being replaced with a virtual memorial accessible at https://everloved.com/life-of/antoinette-netty-grosulak/. Please log in to celebrate her life and share memories. Her family wishes to thank all of her health care providers and the caring staff at Billings Clinic Dialysis.
