David Donald Harper, age 69, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2019. He was born on September 23, 1949 in Glendive, MT to James E. Harper and Helen (Flath) Harper.
The family moved to Livingston, where David graduated from Park High School in 1968.
David joined the U.S. Army in 1970. He worked in the demilitarized zone during his Vietnam tour and was stationed in Korea. In 1973 he was honorably discharged.
After returning to Livingston, he went to work for Burlington Northern Railroad (Burlington Santa Fe). He would eventually be transferred to Seattle. David lived in Everett, WA for 21 years and retired from BNR after 39 years. He moved to Billings in 2009 to be closer to family.
David enjoyed camping and fishing with his two dogs, Maggie and Cassie. He had a love for aviation and flying his Phantom 4. He had a big heart, giving to those who were less fortunate.
David was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brothers Greg (Linda) Harper of Billings and Archie (Peggy) Harper of Helena; sisters Cindy (Doug) Hardy of Livingston and Suzy (Ted) Gustin of Billings; four nieces: Stevie, Michelle, Jenny, and Nicole; and one nephew, Shane.
He will be greatly missed by everyone.
A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday September 27 at Yellowstone National Cemetery.
