Jane Hutchinson passed away at Eagle Cliff Manor Sunday April 22,2018. Jane was born on October 5, 1929 in Ballantine, MT to Grant & Myrl Dick. Jane and her family moved to Boyd, MT when she was 2. She resided in Boyd until after she graduated from Joliet High School in 1947. During that summer she met the man with whom she would spend the next 52 years with. Bud and Jane were married on September 14, 1947. She had five daughters and one son. She also had a foster son Tommy who she loved very much.
She had many great accomplishments too during her lifetime. She had a great passion for sewing and made many quilts for family and friends. She loved to make clothes for her children as well as her grandchildren. She loved gardening and canned or froze much of what she grew. She was an amazing cake decorator. She made elaborate cakes for any and every event that would let her. Her biggest passion was her flower garden. It was where she found tranquility. She was in many flower clubs. She also won many awards for her beautiful arrangements. Her flower garden was even highlighted in the Billings Gazette on several occasions. She truly had a green thumb. She ran daycare in her home. To this day may of those children still call her “Grandma Jane”.
After Bud passed away in December of 1998 Jane moved into River Ridge at Eagle Cliff Manor where she lived for the past 19 years. She had a beautiful flower garden outside of her window of her apartment. She brought so much beauty for all the residents, visitors and employees to enjoy. She was even a care giver to all the fellow residents and is going to be greatly missed by everyone there.
Jane was preceeded in death by her parents, husband Bud, brothers Bill and Woody Dick, sister Ann, daughter Louise, son David and son-in-laws Phil and Stan. She also had lost several grandchildren & great grandchildren. Jane is survived by her son Dev, daughters Myral Yanchisin, Patsy
Worden, Audrey Hutchinson and Jeanie Philhower. Jane also has many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and a son-in-law Mike Schmaing.
Jane’s family and friends would like to thank all the staff at Eagle Cliff Manor for taking such good care of her over these many years. She had to have walked at least a million miles up and down the hallways. Jane received many compliments on how much encouragement she always gave everyone around her.
Funeral services will be at Hope Methodist Church @ 244 Wicks Lane on April 28, 2018 @ 11am. A viewing will start at 9am with a luncheon following at the church. The graveside ceremony will be at 2:30pm at the Ballantine Cemetery. Donations can be made the Compassus Hospice, Eagle Cliff Manor or the Human Society.
