Donald ‘Jake’ Warren Jacobson, Sr.

Donald Warren Jacobson Sr., “Jake”, 79, of Billings, passed away peacefully on Monday June 25, 2018 from a recurrence of cancer at his home, surrounded by his loving children.

Jake was born in Butte, Montana on November 19, 1938 as the only child to Sivert and Edna Jacobson.  He attended Billings Senior High School in Billings, MT.  Jake entered the Navy on April 12, 1956 where he worked as an Aviation Machinist and achieved the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, Navy Distinguished Marksman and the Navy Rifle Qualification.

During his Navy service, Jake met the love of his life and his soulmate, Roberta Kay Carver, whom he married on October 14, 1957 in Miami, OK.  They went on to have 5 children: Don Jr., Donna, Darlene, David and Diann.

He was an amazing business man and hard worker.  He worked for Blackline Asphalt, Kennedy Stockways, Lloyd Richards, Add Reese Trucking, and Garret Freight Lines before starting his own business, Don Jacobson Trucking, in 1978.  He started with 1 truck and grew his business to a total of 27 trucks and 32 trailers before selling the business in 2000 and retiring.

He had so many treasured friendships within his numerous hobbies.  He was an avid ATV, snowmobile, and motorcycle rider.  He very much enjoyed boating, fishing, and camping with his family.  Some of his favorite memories were raising his kids, holiday celebrations, and reunions.

Jake is survived by three children: Don Jr., Donna, and Darlene along with 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Kay, son David, and daughter Diann.

The most important characteristics Jake wanted to be remembered by were being gentle, kind, thoughtful, and loving.  His word was his bond, and he also tried to have great character and honesty which he always succeeded at.  He was an honorable man who never met a stranger and made an impact on everyone he touched. He was a Dad who loved his kids unconditionally and in return he was deeply respected and loved by his children who cared for him until his last minutes.

Memorial services will be held Saturday July 7, 2018 at 1:30 PM at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 328 Shiloh Road, Billings, MT.  A Reception will follow at Gusick’s Restaurant in Billings.
