Dean T. Kanning passed away on March 23, 2019, in Billings after a short fight with cancer. He was born on Sept. 22, 1953, to Benjamin and Dorothy Kanning of Flaxville. Dean attended grade school and high school in Flaxville, and entered the military after graduation. Upon his return to Montana, he worked in office-machine repair and with a tech company that laid fiber-optic cable in many areas of the western U.S.
Dean, who lived in Billings for the past many years, had the reputation of making people smile and laugh. He is survived by his sister, Delores Kanning Koerber, in Billings, and his brother, “RG” Kanning in Channel Islands, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Bernice Kanning Veis and Loretta Kanning Stroh, and his brother Richard Kanning. A memorial will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, at 2641 Wyoming Avenue in Billings, with burial at a future date in Flaxville.
