James ‘Jim’ Edward Kellison

James (Jim) Edward Kellison, 82, of Billings, died with dignity on June7, 2017. Jim was born on November 14, 1934, to Theodore and Ethel Kellison. Jim, “Kelly” to his good friends and buddies, graduated from Billings Senior High in 1954. Thereafter, he enlisted and served in the US Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in January of 1962. Jim married Mary Jo Strong on June 12, 1959. They had two daughters, Constance Jo and Vicki Lynne.
Jim worked for State Farm Insurance for 35 plus years as the Laurel and Columbus agent. He was also active on the Laurel Golf Course Board and was a former past President. Jim was involved with the Laurel Police Commission and Ambulance Committee.
Jim loved the speed element in his transportation and was the proud owner of many fast cars, mostly and definitely black.
Jim is survived by his two daughters, Connie Cole and Vicki Phillips, one granddaughter, Kelsey Jo Phillips, one great-grandson, Zaiyan Donovan Phillips, two sisters, Sharon (Dick) Walter and Doris of Minnesota, as well as three ex-wives, Mary Jo, Lin and Bonnie. He was preceded in death by both parents and a sister, Marion.
During his last years, his great friend, Annette Wellhaven, her husband Leif, son Colton, and daughter Hope were the biggest and best parts of his life. Thank you all so much for your support, generosity & humor – God Bless!!!
Special thanks to Compassus Hospice Care who helped dad in his final days. He will be laid to rest at the Laurel Veterans’ Cemetery.
