Raymond Dale Lester was born in Las Animas, Colorado on May 23, 1943 to Virgil and Ruth Lester and was the youngest of 7 children.  He was raised in Montana until he left to join the armed service.  Serving in both the Navy and the Army he was an incredibly proud veteran.  After his service he settled in California and completed Cosmetology school where he lived happily until he returned to Billings in 1989 to care for his mother.

Raymond enjoyed thrift shopping and had also volunteered at the Montana Rescue Mission always buying nick knacks and trinkets for family.  He was a man with a huge heart and love for people.  His greatest love was his Dachshund, Sarah who preceded him in death.  He also leaves behind his chihuahua Charlie and his Dachshund Sadie.  They will be lost without him.

He was preceded in death by his parents Virgil and Ruth Lester, his siblings Jay, Jim, George and Claudette.

He is survived by his sisters Jesse Kramer and Karin Kaiser and many nieces and nephews and wonderful friends.

Many thanks go out to his wonderful friends Brad and Michelle Thompson and Veito Moretti who were there for him in every possible way a good friend could be.

There will be a graveside salute by the Army Reserve at Yellowstone National Cemetery, 55 Buffalo Trail Road, Laurel, Mt on Friday November 2nd at 1:00 pm where friends and family are encouraged to share their stories about how Raymond impacted their lives.  And additional gathering will be held at his sisters house at 22 Lewis Ave the following day on Saturday at 1:00 pm for a potluck lunch.
