Curtis Dale Norderhus, the son of Clarence and Nora (Ihla) Norderhus, born on March 10, 1929, graduated from Souris High School, and on December 9, 1950 married Peggy Patterson. From this union, they had two daughters, Cheryl and Sandra (Sandy). Curtis started as a part time farmer and bulk truck driver for the local Farmers Union Cooperative and upon the retirement of his father he farmed full-time with Peggy partnering.

Curtis participated in several committees including Souris City Council, Trinity Church Council, Director and President of Farmers Union Oil Board, Director of Bottineau County Farmers Union, Volunteer Fire Department, and Member and Chairman of the Boundry Creek Water Management Board.

With his loving family by his side, Curtis passed away due to complications from COPD on June 25th at the age of 90.  Curtis’ biggest joy in life was spending time with his family that often included running through the “Fun Fountain” and any other pranks they could think of with his grandchildren, teasing (yes, teasing), playing cards, playing pool, throwing darts, country rides, home projects, and of course the numerous projects his girls had ready for them to help with when they came to Montana visiting.

In 2003 after retirement, Peggy and Curtis moved to Billings to be closer to their daughters. Curtis is survived by his wife of 68 years, Peggy, his daughters, Cheryl (Luke) Harnish and Sandy (Dennis) Conway. Grandsons Justin (Samira) Harnish and Ryan (Kelly) Harnish. 1 Great-Granddaughter Emery and 4 Step-Great-Grandchildren and 3 Step Great-Great-Granddaughters.

Curtis is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Lois Ann, and brother Paul.

Our family has been so honored to call this special man our Husband, Dad, Grandpa, and Great Grandpa.  You have left our lives but never our hearts.   And with that he leaves us with his favorite saying, “Take ‘er cool”.

Per the request of Curtis, no services are being planned.
