Howard Osmundson, of Huntley, MT, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2018 at the age of 100.

Howard is lovingly remembered by his wife, Judy, of 65 years, and his children, Beth (Kevin), Holly (Terry), Mary, and Russell (Sarah).  Howard’s eight grandchildren lovingly remember their time with him.  Howard’s family includes five great-grandchildren.  His family was always dear to him.  His parents, John Orville & Judith Amelia, brother Russell, and sister, Ruth were an important part of his life before their passing.  Howard’s extended family was also very special to him.

Howard was an avid reader.  He read for pleasure, enjoying mysteries and novels of the west.  He also read to learn, always expanding his knowledge of the world.  His love of reading was passed on to future generations as he read to his kids and grandchildren.  Howard’s pastimes also included photography and playing pinochle or cribbage, a way to be with friends and family.

Howard loved the outdoors.  He used his love of the outdoors to work his way through the University of Minnesota on a trap line.  He loved to ranch, hunt, ride, and to be in the open spaces.  His soil conservation and rural real estate appraisal jobs allowed him to work outside as he visited the properties.

Howard will be remembered as a man who showed his appreciation for others.  A gift, a meal, a card was always thanked graciously.  His caretakers were shown great kindness as they helped him during his last days.

Howard was active in several organizations. Howard was a long time member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Shepherd, MT, serving as deacon and president.  He was a member of American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers, serving as president.
