John Edward Rekdal (JR) passed away on Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019 at Eagle Cliff Manor.
He was born December 3, 1947 in Billings Montana to James (Jim) and Anna (Ott) Rekdal.
John enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in June 1966 and served six years. He was discharged in June 1972.
In 1968, he married Linda Kern and together they raised two children, Shane and Carrie and later divorced.
John was an outstanding parts man, working for Town & Country GMC, Frontier Chevrolet, and Olson Diesel Service. He was also an avid mechanic and enjoyed woodworking for family and friends.
John enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting and spent a lot of his time in the Little Snowy Mountains with his family. He enjoyed listening and dancing to old country music, often tuning in to Lonnie Bell on Sunday mornings. He would often pick up the guitar in later years and play along.
John is preceded in death by his sister, Marlene and parents, Jim and Anna.
He is survived by his children Shane (Lisa) Rekdal of Shepherd and Carrie (Steve) Reimer of Powell; sister Kathy (Bert) Stiles of Broadview; grandchildren Alaina and Seth Rekdal, and Kyle and Cassidy Reimer and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of John’s life with a luncheon will be held Saturday, May 4 at the Knights of Columbus (2216 Grand Avenue) at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to your charity of choice.
