Pearl L. Risa passed away on June 11, 2017 in Billings, Montana.
Pearl L. (Luse) Risa was the youngest daughter of Frank and Sarah (Quinn) Luse. She was born on July 7th, 1918 on the family homestead south of Glasgow, Montana. She attended schools in Glasgow and graduated with the class of 1938. Pearl married Martin Risa in Glasgow on April 17, 1938. To this union eight children were born: Gordon (Carol) Risa, Paul Dean (Marlie) Risa, Curtis (Donna) Risa, Patricia Vasecka, Pat Risa, Beth (Paul) Groshart, Douglas Risa, and Julia (John) Harpster.
Pearl kept the house and helped with the farm chores, sewed, crocheted, and made quilts at the church and at home. Many of the grandchildren have quilts she made with their names and dates of birth on them. She enjoyed gardening, working with her flowers and other plants. She also enjoyed visiting and traveling with family members around the country. Pearl was also a Girl Scout leader and a Den Mother for Cub Scouts.
Pearl was predeceased by her parents: Frank and Sarah Luse; brothers: Leonard, Walter, and Archie Luse; sisters: Faye (Luse) Breckenbridge and Rubie (Luse) Keilman; her husband, Martin In 1977; and son Douglas in 2002.
After Martin’s death, she and her son Douglas farmed the property and raised cattle and hogs until Douglas’ death. She then moved into Opheim and lived there until 2010 when she moved to Billings to live with her son, Curtis.
Pearl is remembered by her 7 children and their wives/husbands along with 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A Memorial Service will be held on June 25 at 1 pm at the Opheim Community Church. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Opheim Community Church.
