Michael James Roberts

Our Papa passed away suddenly in his sleep of natural causes on December 28th. Michael James (Mick/Mickey) Roberts was born on March 9, 1960 in Billings to Bill and Betty (McLendon) Roberts. He attended school in Billings and the surrounding areas. His work ethic was unmatched, spending many of his working years busting tires and the last 15 years as a warehouse manager of MacArthur Roofing Co. in Billings. He married Rebecca Fontaine in 1984 and from this union was given his girls, Alescia and Amanda. He would spend the next 30 plus years dedicating his life to them; raising 2 girls all by himself. He found renewed joy when his grandkids were born and his legacy lives on in them. He met Vickie Fitzwater in 2015, and with her, began to live for himself again. They were married January 31, 2017 and enjoyed every moment together travelling, laughing, and planning their future.

He enjoyed his grandchildren, trips to Alaska and Deadwood; playing shoes with his brother Keith, guy’s weekends with Charlie, holidays with family, watching the Seahawks and Atlanta Braves games, camping, fishing, and of course music. Everyone who knew him will remember him fondly when hearing one of his favorite songs on the radio.

He is preceded in death by his father Roy William (Bill) Roberts, sister Arloa, brother William (Scott) and step father Richard Eckhardt.

He is survived by his loving wife Vickie, daughters Alescia (David Wilson) Roberts, Amanda (Josh) Wilson, daughter by heart Brittney McCracken, mother Betty Wolff, brother Keith (Doris) Roberts, grandchildren William, Mackenna, Kaia, and Jordynn; brother by heart Glenn (Karen) Teachout; The Nitchman Family who loved him as their own; numerous nieces and nephews and friends he loved like family.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, January 5 at 7:00pm at the Knights of Columbus, 2216 Grand Ave. in Billings.

Papa was a man of few words, just all the right ones. A selfless man and the rock of our lives, he will be missed more than we can express. “See you Tuesday” Papa.
