Eilleen G. (Rupe) Rumsey

It is with a heavy heart we said goodbye to our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Eilleen G. Rumsey on March 28, 2019. She passed from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis which is a scaring of the lungs for an unknown reason.  Eilleen met Garland (Gary) C. Rumsey and they were united in marriage on December 5, 1957 with family and friends present.  She was a strong independent lady who loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, animals, country music, family and friends.  She spent most of her life in the Payette, Ontario and Vale, Oregon.  She and Gary would travel to Arizona in the winter to visit and play music with the other snowbirds.  She spent her working years in Vale and opened the Sears Store in the early 70’s with Gary.  While he spent years driving truck, she kept the home front going strong.  Family was especially important to her.  She lived life on her own terms and to the fullest extent.  She was a spiritual woman and had a strong faith relationship with Jesus.  During her passing, she was asked if she had spoken to Gary.  She said yes and he told her it was okay and he was waiting for her.  An overwhelming state of peacefulness and comfort was felt by the family.  Eilleen passed surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, sharing in tears, hugs, and great love.

She is survived by her (brothers) Darwin Skinner, Michael Rupe, (sisters) Fawn Glimpse and Cheryl Cummings. Her children (daughter) Garlena Rumsey, (sons) James Rumsey, Dennis (Sherrae) Rumsey, William (Renee) Rumsey. Her grandchildren, Brandy Jo (Chris) Groscop, Denise (Justin) Lewis, Jennifer Rumsey, Dennis G. (Shelly) Rumsey, Curtis Rumsey, Desiree Rumsey, Zach Rumsey, and Embrie Rumsey.  She was also blessed with and enjoyed all the pleasures of having 14 great grandchildren, Jace Lenz, Kiara, Thad, MaKayla, Zakari, Ryker Lewis, Kinlee Rumsey, Breanna, Brendon Joseph, Tyler, Madeline, Logan Rumsey, Anthony and Adrianna Isolato. She was preceded in death by (mother) Gladys Wood, (father) Ralph Rupe, (husband) Gary, (sisters) Barbara and Linda, and (brothers) Gene & Sonny.  She left us all with her legacy of kindness, love and faith.

The family would like to give a Special Thank You to Jody (Nurse), Charlie (Chaplain) & Bo-Diddley (Chaplin’s Puppy) with Stillwater Hospice for all medical, emotional, and spiritual support during her last few weeks.  We love you both and think of you as family.  Thank you to all the other Staff from Stillwater Hospice for everything.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her name to your local animal shelter to assist in rescues, adoptions, and shots.  Her love of animals, especially dogs were seen by the care and love she provided to them and the endless love they gave to her.

A memorial service to celebrate Eilleen will be announced this summer.
