Anthony Michael ‘Tony’ Schaff, Jr.
Anthony Michael (Tony) Schaff Jr., passed away peacefully at home with family at his side on April 19, 2018 at the age of 92.
Tony was born the 5th of 12 children on March 6, 1926 in Elign, ND to Anton and Rose Schaff. The family moved to Laurel, MT when he was in the 6th grade. Later they moved to the Big Coulee near Ryegate to farm.
When he was 18, he joined the Navy and served in the Philippines during WWII. He was very proud of his service and wore his WWII hat wherever he went.
Tony married Louise (Meyers) on November 6, 1948 and they had 3 children: Brenda Bachtold, Joyce Vogt (Dan) and Anthony M Schaff III. They were married 66 years when Louise passed away at the age of 88.
Tony retired from Burlington Northern Railroad as a machinist. He was an amazing handyman and if something needed to be fixed, he could do it!
Tony loved being around people and was always ready to do anything or go anywhere. He enjoyed all games, especially card and video games. It was never an effort for him to include children in anything. He would make up games and always had time for them.
He is survived by his 3 children, 17 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter. He is also survived by 2 sisters: Margaret Scott and JoAnn Pace (Bob) and 2 brothers: Victor Schaff (Nancy) and Kenny Schaff (Carol), many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed.
Services will be held at Cremation and Funeral Gallery in Billings, MT on Thursday, April 26th at 2:30 pm.
