Mary Cecilia Gerber Vogt Schwend was born on March 27, 1925 in Joliet, MT to Luke and Barbara Gerber. She was the 7th of 11 children. She attended 8 years of school at Wilsey, 2 years at Edgar, and graduated from Fromberg.
During World War II, she traveled to the west coast and worked the shipyards in California. She returned to Fromberg, met, and married WWII veteran Robert Vogt in 1946. To this marriage, six children were born: Dwight, Diane, Linda, Carol, Jeanne, and Kathy.
In 1967, Robert passed away and she was faced with the challenge of raising her children on her own. She worked several jobs to provide for and support her family.
In 1979, she met and married Guy Schwend. They enjoyed 20 years of a beautiful, loving, and caring life together. They traveled the world, created lasting memories, and enjoyed time with their family. Guy passed in 2001. She stayed in her home in Billings and continued to enjoy her church, playing cards, and watching movies.
On June 23, 2018, she passed peacefully with her family by her side, knowing that Jesus took her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Catherine, Joseph, Clara, Albert, Luke, Rose, George, Agnes, Frances and Barbara; husbands: Robert Vogt and Guy Schwend; children: Diane, Dwight Vogt, and Linda Stapleton; and grandson Cory Vogt.
