Doris “Irene” Snyder, 81 passed away peacefully on May 23, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital with her family by her side.

Irene was born in Hope, Idaho January 29, 1938 to Oscar Vern and Dorie Ann Allen.  As a child her family moved from Idaho to Gordon, Nebraska where she and her brothers and sisters rode horses to attend a small country school.  They then moved to Alliance, Nebraska where they all attended high school.

After high school, Irene moved to Chadron, Nebraska where she met and married her husband Frank Snyder.  They were married in 1958 and were married for 48 years until his death in 2005.

In 1964, Frank and Irene moved to Billings, Montana.  She worked at the Buffalo Steak House, Ponderosa Inn, and PAY’s Steakhouse until retiring in the late 80’s.  She also was the manager of her apartment building until her death.

Irene enjoyed playing bingo, crossword puzzles, making latch hook rugs, computer games, her dog Dobie, spending time with her family, but especially her weekly Sunday morning shopping outings and breakfasts at the Muzzle Loader Café with her dear friend and sister-in-law, Goldie Sommerville.

She is proceeded in death by her husband, parents, as well as her brothers Art (Dorothy) and Kenny (Mary), sisters Twila (Roy) and Hazel (Harold), half-brother Ronnie, brother and sister-in-law’s Sonny Sommerville, Mark Snyder (Vina), Earl Snyder, Helen Snyder, and Clara Snyder.

Irene is survived by her brother Oscar “Junior” Allen (Terry), brother and sister-in-law Bill Snyder and Goldie Sommerville, many nieces and nephews, including her niece Hetty, niece Diane Connely, and nephew Jim Sommerville (Brenda) and many great nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are by Cremation Funeral Gallery, where there will be a viewing on Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 4-7 P.M., with a Memorial Service on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 10:00 A.M.
