Bette L. Wittman, 72, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 29, 2019, with her family at her side. Bette was born in Billings on September 13, 1946, to Edward W. and Fern E. Wolfe. Bette became deaf at the age of 10 months from complications of German Measles. She Attended the Montana School for the Deaf and Blind in Great Falls and graduated in June of 1965. On August 5, 1969, she married her soul mate Oscar A. Wittman in Billings, where they established their home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward W. Wolfe and Fern E. Mickulin, her infant son Oscar A. Wittman, Jr., and her husband of 28 years, Oscar A. Wittman. Bette is survived by her son Wade A. Wittman, currently of Tennessee; Judy Walker of Helena; and Beverly Walton of Billings.

Bette’s biggest joys were being a homemaker for her husband and mother to her son. Bette’s other passion was for the many dogs she had over the years. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, and other adventures with her husband and son. Bette was a type 1 diabetic for 60 years and fought that disease valiantly. Bette was also a Godly woman and enjoyed signing songs solo with her long-time friend Ramona Breshears.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Billings Clinic and the entire staff of Riverstone Hospice Home for the compassion and care they shared with Bette and her family. They went above and beyond. Again, we thank you. We also want to thank the APlus staff for their care, as well as the many friends who have been there and helped Bette over the years after her husband passed.

A memorial service is pending.
